Classical differential geometry uses differential calculus to study the properties of figures such as curves and surfaces in Euclidean planes or spaces. Modern differential geometry expands this to include non-euclidean spaces, and higher-dimensional submanifolds, but still based on the methods of differential and integral calculus.
